Emma Adriaensen
Participation & Policy Expert
Emma obtained her degree in Political Science from KU Leuven in 2018. In early 2019, she completed her Master of Governance Networks at Erasmus University in Rotterdam, acquiring a solid academic foundation and international experience. This background enables her to actively participate in policy-making and participation processes related to local energy and climate policy.
Early in her career, she focused on translating and applying national regulations on quality management within the accountancy sector.
In late 2020, Emma joined as a junior Expert in policy and participation in local energy, climate, and circular economy policy. Since then, she has been involved in various participation processes and policy developments, including the 2030 climate plans of the cities of Oostende and Turnhout, the development of a blueprint for “Business Parks of the Future” (POM West-Vlaanderen), and conducting a market study on shared facilities in business parks in Turnhout and Maasmechelen.
In her spare time, Emma runs circus studio ‘t Sirk vzw where she organises circus classes, workshops and camps. Together with her co-coordinator, she manages a team of 20 teachers. She was also active in the local youth council for many years. This experience has given her an in-depth insight into the workings of local advisory councils and the challenges faced by local authorities.
