This project focused on supporting municipalities in the province of Limburg to develop and implement their own heat zoning plan.
Three pilot municipalities were guided in drawing up their own heat zoning plan. This was drawn up on the basis of available data and map material at the Flemish level, supplemented with local figures. Local visions and policy documents, planned projects and third-party developments were also taken into account. In addition, support was provided for the start-up of a suitable first implementation project of the new heat zoning plan.
The aim was to familiarise the municipalities with the practical possibilities of the plan and to gain (positive) experience together with colleagues from other departments and external parties. It also focused on evaluating flanking municipal policies and supporting instruments.
