In the city of Ghent, De Krook and Winter Circus are pioneering innovation and sustainability. Together with Equator Transition Stories took care of the drafting of the agreements for heat exchange in complex environments, the drafting of the financial model behind it and the route guidance.

The Waalse Krook is a library building initially designed with a view to connecting to a heat network in the area, but this connection did not materialise. Eventually, gas boilers were installed to support its own heat pump. In addition, there was provision for a connection to the Winter Circus, which has been renovated by SOGent and will have a multifunctional role. The Winter Circus is managed by Tent through a long-term concession. The building is equipped with powerful heat pumps that extract heat from a relatively large BEO field.

SOGent, De Waalse Krook and Tent joined forces with Transition Stories to realise heat exchange. After three workshops in which all technical and financial aspects were gone through, a cooperation agreement was drawn up between Tent and De Waalse Krook, in accordance with VREG regulations. Transition Stories took responsibility for the technical and financial content, while Equator provided a legal analysis of the proposals and monitored the wording and rights of both parties.
