In our new series #HeroesToWatch, we interview punishing transition heroes. Admirable individuals who are committed to tomorrow’s energy transition. In 2015, Jef Van Eyck and some friends founded Campina Energy, a citizens’ cooperative that brings citizens together and lets them invest in renewable energy. “Our biggest fear was that it would not succeed. Who are we to assume that it will just succeed? How are we supposed to do that?”, Jef explains. Nevertheless, their story struck a chord. Meanwhile, they already realised several solar panel installations and a wind farm. Several projects are also under construction. In #HeroesToWatch, Jef explains his philosophy and tells how his cooperative evolved from a group of friends to a professional company. Spoiler: not everything went smoothly for him either!
