Jan Aerts
Senior consultant
Jan graduated in 1992 as an industrial engineer – electromechanics / environmental technology from Group T in Leuven. After a first work experience in aviation, Jan became fully involved in energy and climate projects 10 years later. First as a project engineer in the construction and operation of anaerobic wastewater treatment plants with coupled biogas CHPs, then as a recognised energy expert (EAP/EPB) in low-energy and passive construction.
In 2007, Jan joined Futureproofed, where he developed climate plans for large companies and cities. He expanded his knowledge with training in financial and change management, area development, cost-benefit analysis, LCA analysis and traffic engineering. In 2017, Jan joined Leuven 2030 vzw, where he led a European grant dossier to make more than 100 buildings more sustainable, with a total investment of €40 million.
From 2022, Jan is reaching back beyond the borders of Leuven and wishes to use his accumulated expertise beyond to land sustainable dreams. That is why he joined Transition Stories, to move mountains together.
